lone oak header

Lone Oak, Texas was founded around 1853, and named for a majestic solitary oak tree that stood alone on the rich prairie. This huge tree had a girth of about four feet. Population has varied over the past 100 years, 1880 there were 70 people, in 1910 after the railroad came through, 746, and the current population is about 521. It is another gateway to beautiful Lake Tawakoni. A small town with a great reputation for their school system and friendly people!

Hawk Cove, Texas located to the east of Quinlan. Hawk Cove is a lakeside community looking to refurbish, update and upgrade, an older established neighborhood. Hawk Cove lies on the shores of Lake Tawakoni. The city recently built a convenience store and laundry-mat. It is located in Hunt County and students attend Quinlan ISD.

Quinlan, Texas is the most centrally located city for all students living in the Quinlan school district. Quinlan is an ever-changing, growing community that thrives on building for the future with quality growth and business. Quinlan is the true and most convenient “Gateway to Beautiful Lake Tawakoni”. Several new business have located in Quinlan in recent years including Wal-Mart Supercenter, McDonald’s, Taco Mayo, an Optometrist, and more all of which came with anticipation of providing area citizens with more ways to shop and live in the Quinlan area. Quinlan also prides itself in providing a small-town, country atmosphere that is rich in history, and tradition. This is evidenced in the Quinlan Community Library and Museum Center located in the QISD Education Center on Richmond Street. Antique shops line the downtown and surrounding areas. Quinlan is truly a step back in time towards the future.

West Tawakoni, Texas, about 8 miles east of Quinlan, is located on beautiful Lake Tawakoni - recently named “Catfish Capital of Texas”! Additional recreational opportunities in the lake are include a West Tawakoni City Park, Wind Point Park, Thousand Trails Park, Tawakoni State Park and Tawakoni Gold Club featuring lakeside 18-hole public golf course. There are several area marinas, boat ramps and more to gain access to the lake.

East Tawakoni, Texas is a town almost entirely located on a peninsula surrounded by Lake Tawakoni. Located in Rains County and boasting a population of about 900 according to the 2003 census. Students located in this community attend either Rains or Lone Oak ISD. A great place to visit for water fun and some serious fishing!

Union Valley, Texas incorporated to the west of Quinlan between Quinlan and Rockwall - the fastest growing area of the Quinlan school district. Easy access to the metroplex through an expanded 5-lane highway makes this portion of the district highly desirable to newcomers to the area. Beautiful rolling hills and dotted trees make this area very attractive for those wanting to build their country dream home.
