BILL SLAUGHTER INSURANCE - Call (903) 217-6506 for more information

Why pay for claims you may never have?  That's been my mantra for several decades when it comes to paying high premiums for low to no deductibles and/or co-pays.  And, it really touches home when it comes to Medicare supplements.
Most Medicare advantage plans have a maximum out of pocket per year of $6700; while the plan I think most folks should take is a supplement to regular medicare and its maximum out of pocket is now just $2100. But, those between the ages of 65 to 68 average $541 OOP per year; 68-72 average $647 OOP per year; and 73 and above average $754 per year.
Think about it. If you the average 65 year old, you could pay $1800 per year in premium for ZERO deductible; or $372 per year and have a maximum OOP of $2100. Take the ZERO deductible and you're paying $1428 per year to insure $2100. I'd rather put that $1428 in my own pocket...better yet, put it in a savings account that pays you a guaranteed THREE percent interest per year.
Come see me and I'll explain these numbers at NO cost. And, every doctor, every hospital that accepts Medicare accepts this supplement, NATIONWIDE!

FARMERS ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE

In the mid 1930’s only 1 out of 10 rural homes had electric service. For many years power companies ignored the rural areas, except where there were conditions necessary to assure early profits. This lack of electricity made life on the farm difficult and limited growth in rural areas, since industries required electricity.

On May 11, 1935, Roosevelt signed Executive Order No. 7037 establishing the REA. It was not until a year later that the Rural Electrification Act was passed, and the lending program that became the REA got underway. On Sept. 11, 1937 Farmers Electric Cooperative was born.

Setting up a co-op wasn’t easy. The organizers were ordinary citizens who held meetings to convince people to join the cooperative. The organizers went house-to-house and the results were not always positive. In 1935 the membership fee of $5 was a lot of money and people were skeptical. The first lines were energized on Sept. 14, 1938.

We strive to be recognized as an exceptional co-op by our members, employees and communities. With careful management of resources, dedicated employees and strategic planning, we’ve managed to keep our electricity prices stable and our reliability high for 80 years.
